A distressing or traumatic experience can leave you with intrusive memories, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, numbness, sleep difficulties, physical tension, avoidance, or trouble concentrating — even after the immediate danger has passed. R-TEP and G-TEP are specialized EMDR protocols designed to help the brain and nervous system process recent trauma and ongoing traumatic stress.
R-TEP — Individual Trauma Processing. The Recent Traumatic Episode Protocol is provided one-on-one, addressing the different moments, emotions, thoughts, sensations, and triggers connected to a traumatic episode — not simply one isolated memory. It may be helpful following an accident, medical crisis, sudden loss, interpersonal violence, betrayal, natural disaster, or workplace incident.
G-TEP — A Flexible EMDR Protocol. The Group Traumatic Episode Protocol uses a structured worksheet, guided stabilization, focused processing, and bilateral stimulation. It may be provided individually, with couples, with families, or with professional, community, and ministry groups. Participants work privately with their own experiences without having to disclose every detail — especially valuable for people affected by a shared crisis, loss, disaster, or workplace incident.
You will not be required to describe every detail of what happened. The purpose is not to erase the memory, but to help it feel more integrated, manageable, and connected to the past rather than continually experienced in the present.
